Daheco Engines launches new Solar Division Daheco Engines Corporation (DEC) launches new division to focus it's technology on solar energy. The primary development is to adapt the CVPD™ technology to operate as a steam powered piston engine with efficiencies greater than 50% converting steam pressure into rotary torque. The company projects that a solar / generator system using a DEC steam engine will obtain overall efficiency greater than 40% STE (solar to electric) which is a 25% improvement over current systems.
Daheco Engines releases development engine details Daheco Engines Corporation (DEC) releases preliminary details of its development engine. The 1DL2 CVPD™ 1.0 liter Coincycle™ Two-Stroke engine is expected to produce 350 lb●ft of torque @ 1000 RPM and over 250 Hp @ 3600 RPM while providing twice the fuel economy. The two-cylinder horizontally opposed modular engine is based on two patent pending technologies. The CVPD™ design (Constant Volume Combustion & Intake) offers 200% more torque compared to current designs. The Coincycle™ two-stroke technology maximizes engine efficiency while providing internal cylinder overcharging without the need of a supercharger. The modular design allows multiple module assemblies to satisfy any horsepower, torque & RPM need including Class 8 heavy-duty trucks and marine applications. The company plans to begin prototype testing by the end of 2010. DEC is exploring strategic partnerships and alliances as it moves forward with its developments. Download Press Release PDF version.

Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE Welcomes New Registered Team in
Daheco (day-he-co) Engines today announced its acceptance into the multimillion dollar Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE, an international competition designed to inspire a new generation of viable, super fuel-efficient vehicles to offer more consumer choices. Dan Hamby officially submitted its registration application on February 27, 2009, an important step towards ensuring that it is at the starting line when the competition kicks off next year. Final confirmation of the team’s Registered Team status is pending their signature of a Master Team Agreement (MTA) upon its upcoming release. “The Progressive Automotive X PRIZE is not just a competitive event, it is a necessity,” said Dan Hamby, Team Leader and CEO of Daheco Engines. “In today’s global community, major corporations have become so large with multi-tiered management structures that they have, in effect, set up barriers between themselves and the outside innovative world. The Progressive Automotive X PRIZE will provide a bridge over those barriers allowing high level decision makers to see all of the new possibilities.” Daheco Engines will compete in the mainstream class of the competition by installing a newly developed engine into an existing vehicle. The engine takes advantage of patent pending designs to obtain super fuel-efficiency while maintaining substantial performance. Along with Dan, team members Robin and Heather Harris are looking forward with great excitement to demonstrate what it means to experience “GREEN POWER THE DAHECO WAY.” More than 100 teams submitted applications before registration closed on February 28. Those accepted, as Daheco Engines has been, become a Registered Team and move one step closer to competing for their share of the $10 million prize purse, funded by Progressive. Next, Registered Teams will undergo Design Judging based on a detailed Data Submission providing information on vehicle features, production capability, safety, and business plans. Those that pass Design Judging become Competing Teams and move into the performance testing phase with competition events that will begin as early as May 2010. Winners will come in two classes— Mainstream and Alternative— and cash prizes will be awarded to those that can design and build production-capable, 100 MPGe (miles per gallon energy equivalent) vehicles that people will want to buy and that meet market needs for price, size, capability, safety and performance. Winners will be announced in 2010. “For Daheco Engines, the competition is not just an opportunity, it is a requirement,” added Hamby. “When the Earth was created, humankind was given the task of overseer. We were to tend, nurture, and protect it, not abuse or squander its greatness. By using our God given inventive talents to compete in this competition, we are presenting ourselves a good steward, doing the needful thing.” “We congratulate Daheco Engines on its commitment to developing super fuel efficient vehicles,” noted Julie Zona, Director of Team Development and Relations for the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE. “While there’s still much to be accomplished before reaching that starting line, we’re pleased to see that they have taken this important step in the process.” For a complete list of Registered Teams, please visit www.progressiveautoxprize.org.
About the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE Competition: The goal of the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE, a project of the X PRIZE Foundation, is to inspire a new generation of viable, super fuel-efficient vehicles that offer more consumer choices. Ten million dollars in prizes will be awarded to the teams that win a stage competition for clean, production-capable vehicles that exceed 100 MPGe.
The Progressive Automotive X PRIZE will place a major focus on affordability, safety, and the environment. It is about developing real, production-capable cars that consumers want to buy, not science projects or concept cars. This progress is needed because today’s oil consumption is unsustainable and because automotive emissions significantly contribute to global warming and climate change.
