Chairman - W. Daniel Hamby has a lifetime of diverse expertise. Mr. Hamby's career spans over 35 years of innovative engineering and novel designs. After college, Mr. Hamby began a career as a design engineer and quickly established his inventive talents. He has authored multiple patents and software programs. Many of his ingenious concepts have inspired whole industries. Mr. Hamby is the inventor and developer of the Daheco Way of building IC engines, which is aimed at creating the ultimate in fuel efficient engines with high performance.
Corporate Secretary - Heather Harris has applied her college education to maintaining a focused company. Her experience spans administrative positions from customer service to payroll to purchasing with several companies. She applies her organizational skills to office management, accounting, and general company administration.
Robin Harris entered into OJT directly out of high school and proved his intellectual aptitude by quickly obtaining skills in mechanical assembly, machine shop practices, electrical / electronic installation and machine control. His ability to quick study most subjects has given him a diverse and well rounded base of experience and knowledge. He also has extensive experience with machining processes, mechanical assemblies, many years of customer service and over the road transportation.
Dr. Ahmed Soliman received his B.Sc. and M.Sc degrees in Mechanical Engineering with Major in Automotive Systems from the 2nd largest University in Cairo, Egypt (Ain Shams University where he is currently Professor Emeritus). He received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Soliman is currently the director of NC Motorsports and Automotive Research Center and Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he researches and teaches on topics in automotive engineering with focus on advanced powertrain in Motorsports.
Prior to his UNCC position he was the Industrial Director and a Research Faculty at the OSU Center for Automotive Research (CAR). At CAR he was directing an Industrial Consortium that saw over the years 25 members from the automotive industry and government agencies and over $10 Million in funded research activities with the participation of 20 faculty from 12 departments and 4 colleges. Also, in 1999 he was the Associate Director of the NSF S/I/UCRC OSU Center for Industrial Sensors and Measurements (CISM) with funding of $1Million per year where he was responsible for directing the research activities in the areas of emissions control and exhaust gas sensors development. He has supervised over 40 graduate students’ research at OSU and UNCC and has published over 50 papers and holds 2 USA patents.
Dr. Soliman is a member of ASME, EEA, and SAE. He is an SAE Fellow and served as a director on the SAE Board form 2007-2010 and currently is a member of two of SAE Boards; Foundation Board of Trustees; and Engineering Education Board. In 2010 he was appointed to the NC Governors Advisory Council on Motorsports and he is the UNC Charlotte SAE Chapter and Baja Team advisor and sits on the SAE Carolina Sections Board.
